Yes. Conscious sedation is designed to help patients feel relaxed and comfortable during dental treatment. Before sedation, we carry out a comprehensive assessment of your medical and social history to make sure the proposed sedation is appropriate for you. Our sedation team must have the appropriate training, skills and experience, with up-to-date life-support training, and your condition is monitored throughout the procedure and recovery.

The most appropriate way of managing your anxiety is considered individually, taking into account your needs, medical history and suitability for sedation. If sedation is in your best interests, an appropriate technique can be discussed with you.

Conscious sedation is not general anaesthesia, one is not safer than the other. The appropriate option depends on the individual patient and treatment.
